For me is it still important to think about old games, how they were and that I still play them today nya.
Though it’s not easy to get certain games nowadays. I want to speak a bit about those old games, by which I tried to make an mega game play desu~
Actually it should become a post about generally older games, but I can just think on RPG’s desu~
As first:
Grandia 1
I played it 14 times complete nya. It’s one of the best old RPGs in my eyes nya.
Sue is awesome cute and Feena is very hot! I loved certain wild enemies.
Gaya man was very funny. nyahahaha
Milda was funny. She was so extreme.
I remember there were funny slimes. There was purple slime as well nya. Jun-Potemayo hehehehe
And the boss Chang is a great thing. nyahahaha *Syper Tornado haaaa*
Legend of Dragoon
Woah, that were times nya. I played surely the German version.
The bosses were great. There was a mage, which was actually unconquerable, but I had almost killed him nya. I had to lose the battle.
AHHHH I didn’t get it. uguuuu~
Fruegel was one of the funniest bosses in the world.
Kongol too nya.
But the best boss fight there was Lenus.
I am not resistent against this bgm nya.
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Skies of Arcadia is my favorite Gamecube game in my foretime nya. This is the game of freedom.
It has needed more years to make an mega gameplay nya. But it’s not yet completed. uguuu~
The great thing on the game is, there are 2 ways of battles. Normal battles and battles in the sky.

And there you can discover the complete world, between, under and about the clouds.
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness

I still remember on Satiro (Ninja), which I did transmigrate very often nya. He was the first one who was able to kill an monster on level 9999 with level 1000 nya.
Anyways, Disgaea is an endless train and make strong weapon-game nya.
I love the bgm in Disgaea. I would honestly say, Disgaea has the best game bgm nya!!!!!!
Tales of Phantasia
It’s my favorite RPG nya. I love the characters, the story, the battle system and the enemies nya.
The OP is very nice.
There are though many differences between PS1, GBA and SNES versions nya.

Jade Cocoon
It reminds me on Ghibli nya.
With the German dub. it was more funny, but actually it’s epic desu~
Jade Cocoon was a funny game, because I was able to mix 2 monsters.
Clothes basket + Kicking goat = Clothing basket with skin of goat
Kicking goat + Clothes basket = Kicking Clothes basket
Actually is it like an Pokemon with story where peoples could die (Or move into stone) and you can mix your monsters nya.
That’s a great list of RPGs. ^ ^ I gotta admit, I wasn’t familiar nor haven’t played the others besides Disgaea.. :S (Darn..) I wasn’t an RPG person back then during my teens.. But with your choice recommendations, I’m sure everybody else who will read this will be fascinated with the games from this list that they might consider trying. :D Excellent.
Uryu, Jade Cocoon and Tales of Phantasia look really appealing, I feel bad because I never have enough time to play RPGs at my home. I have to play them on a handheld, like Disgaea 1 for DS. x.x;;

I’ve never heard of Legend of Dragoon before, but it seems interesting. I really loved Grandia, it was the first rpg game that I played and actually bothered completing. Actually I feel like playing it again now that you reminded me of it…
Tales of Phantasia, one of the Oldies that I alwasy played even in the Year 2000+.
There are some Oldies that are good as well that wasn’t mentioned, mainly Guardian Recall and Megaten…

Dark Chronicle (2003) = old game too? it was epic too and one my favourite ps2 rpg
Wow, I remember all these games (have them somewhere) growing up all I did video game wise is play rpg’s… even today I will play a RPG over any other type. I think I own every english rpg game that was ever released for PS1, PS2, and PSP.
Give a example of my rpg otaku~ness I own Skies of Arcadia for both Gamecube and prior to that for Dreamcast ^^;
I recommend the Tales games loved them all (Tales of Destiny was my favorite though, love the Japanese opening song) If you want a comedy type I would recommend Disgaea and all its counterparts Disgaea 2 and Phantom Brave. Also for those who dont know, the PSP edition there is a way to kill off Laharl and Etna is the main character, completely different storyline.
I couldnt stand the english voices for Grandia, but the game play was awesome, I loved playing all 3 games and the Xtreme version, never played the others though.
Besides what is listed here some other older games I loves playing would be Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana (really loved this one), Star Ocean, Suikoden series, xenogears/xenosaga, Lunar series, wild arms series, and to end it legend of legaia…. I know there are lots more as well but so many titles would be able to make a whole post with just names lol
You have played a lot of RPGs! ^^ I’ve heard of most of them, but only played a few. I have Skies of Arcadia for GameCube, though I’m ashamed to say I haven’t beaten in yet. xD I got sidetracked with other things and never got back to it, but hopefully one day~!
I’ve never played Disgaea but I watched a couple episodes of the anime. I’ve had at least two people tell me I remind them of Flonne (because of my attitude). x3 Because of that, I used to use Flonne as my MSN DP for a while.
I haven’t played Tales of Phantasia but I did watch the OVA, and I like the Tales series overall. Symphonia is one of my favorite games, I liked the Abyss anime and I’m looking forward to playing Graces when it comes out! :)
Nice article, the only one on this list that I haven’t played is Grandia. It looks interesting though, as if I would like it.
The Playstation era of JRPGs is perhaps my favorite. I fondly remember playing FFVIII & IX, as well as Legend of Dragoon and Jade Cocoon. Skies of Arcadia is another very good title that I would love to see a remastering or remake of. :)

If I one thing to say, I think the music for the movie didn’t match the animations.
This blog reminds me of my past, when I played RPG games on Super nintendo and playstation. Ah~, those were good times.
I’ve only heard of Disgaea : Hour of Darkness and Tales of Phantasia from this list. And I’ve never played Disgaea, though I’ve wanted to check it out for a bit. But the Tales of games are great! ^_^
